Heavy Equipment & CDL Training Institute

Since 1994, New Mexico Tech has operated, in cooperation with the New Mexico Department of Transportation, a training center for heavy equipment operators and a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) training site. The Facilities Management Director oversees general operations, and meets regularly with the training institute coordinator and heavy equipment instructors. 

The training center is located on the New Mexico Tech campus, where students learn heavy equipment skills by working on actual projects under the supervision of certified instructors. Classroom instruction provides lessons on safety, maintenance and operating techniques.
