New
Mexico Tech Golf Course is one of the most scenic and well
respected courses in the state. With beautiful M Mountain providing
a backdrop, lots of trees and water features, it is easy to get lost
in your surroundings. You had better stay focused though, because
this beauty is a true test of golf. Accuracy and strategy are
rewarded here.
The Golf Course Manager is responsible for:
- Cup changes and placement of tee boxes. The Manager works with the Golf Course Head Professional to coordinate work crews with golfing events. Crews work flexible hours to meet tournament schedules. Major events require a great deal of coordination between the Manager and Head Professional
- Irrigation issues, such as repairs to the original system installed in 1953; and to the four- and six-inch main waterlines. The Manager also is responsible for the irrigation system that pumps water up to Faculty Hill, and oversees maintenance on the pump houses and automatic controls
- Pest management, which includes algaecide treatment to the stream that feeds Macey Pond
- Working with the Head Professional on designing and laying out five new holes to replace areas that are tagged for a construction project west from New Mexico Tech's South Hall
