Custodial & Maintenance Services
The Custodial Services Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing all daily activities related to custodial operations. The department is responsible for general building maintenance, both on-campus and off-site
(i.e, Facilities Management provides custodial services to the National Radio Astronomy Observatory's Array Operations Center, and to Aerojet, Inc., a New Mexico Tech contractor, at a pre-determined cost).

Specific duties include:
- Responsible for the development, training, implementation, and management of custodial policies and procedures
- Develops and manages the equipment budgets
- Assists the Associate Director Administrative Services in developing statistical reports and in implementing policies and procedures
- Determines custodial needs
- Conducts daily campus and building inspections to provide daily supervision and interaction with custodial personnel
- Screens prospective employees and makes recommendations for employment and termination within the Manager's area of responsibility
- Determines building assignments for custodial staff
- Responsible for commencement set-up (bleachers, chairs, etc.)
- Provides stand-by services, 24 hours a day, a duty shared with the Custodial Supervisor
- Coordinates table and chair delivery both on- and off-campus (delivery provided for university customers only)
- Works with New Mexico Tech's Residential Life office to prepare for summer conferences
Custodial duties include:
- General office maintenance (empty trash cans, vacuum offices, sweep and mop hallways and floors, etc.)
- Moving furniture
- Stripping and waxing floors during summer and winter break
- Shampoo carpets during spring break
- Cleaning windows
- Preparing dorms for summer conference clients
- Providing other custodial services as needs are identified

Building Maintenance Supervisor |
The Building Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for all building
maintenance.
Specific duties include:
- Supervises five building maintenance specialists in daily building maintenance activities
- One building maintenance employee assigned full-time to campus dormitories
- Responsible for building maintenance of six to seven buildings
- Includes processing work order requests from Auxiliary Enterprises (The Auxiliary office provides administrative oversight for a number of campus entities including the Golf Course, Macey Center, student housing, and the Bookstore)
- Inspects buildings to ensure work is up to standards established by Associate Director Administration
- Assists construction crew when necessary
- Participates in the hire and discipline of personnel, and in employee performance evaluations
- Interacts with other departments to ensure that regular maintenance duties are carried out
- Assisting in the set-up for commencement exercises each spring, and in installing the swimming pool bubble every
fall

The Custodial Supervisor directs, evaluates and coordinates all activities involving custodial staff.
Specific duties include:
- Trains employees with emphasis on working procedures, operation, and use of new equipment, materials, safety and institute policies
- Schedules and assigns work to custodians, and records inspections to ensure standards are being met
- Requisitions and issues supplies as needed. Maintains supply and equipment inventory, and maintains their security and condition
- Hires, evaluates, disciplines and recommends salary adjustments for custodial staff
- Responsible for maintaining an ongoing floor care schedule and crew
- Assists the Custodial Services Manager with developing new programs and services
