POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

TITLE  RESEARCH SCIENTIST II                               DEPT   ICASA       

 

 REG   þ                      FULL TIME   þ          

 STARTING RATE or SALARY RANGE $65,000  

 

JOB DUTIES:

 Conduct research in complex systems analysis, and in particular, contribute to the analytic process under development by ICASA, Develop tools and techniques that support the modeling, simulation, and analysis of a variety of critical infrastructure systems. Work in teams with peer and student researchers to develop theoretical and applied solutions to problems of interest. Perform basic and applied research relating to problems of interest to ICASA. Develop scientific software products that apply and test concepts developed by ICASA. Assist in the development of new ICASA research and development opportunities in conjunction with ICASA leadership. Give presentations and updates locally and at sponsor sites.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in Computer Science, or a closely related field required. Experience in the development of scientific software projects including prototypes and semi-production systems, as well as experience performing requirements analysis, design, implementation, and testing required. Relevant experience in the development of software as a part of a team required. Experience with multi-user revision control systems (e.g. CVS, subversion) required. Outstanding communication skills, including experience in public speaking/lecturing required. Experience in the performance of scientific experimentation and/or development in parallel computing environment required. Experience in mathematical and scientific modeling, including paradigms such as hybrid-dynamical systems modeling, cellular automata, agent-based modeling, and/or aggressive abstraction techniques for complex-systems analysis required. Experience in the design and execution of scientific experiments supporting a large-scale and iterative research objective desired. Experience with visualization development, such as in OpenGI, etc. desired. Applicant must posses or be willing and able to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance, to include polygraph examination.
