POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
TITLE MATERIALS ENGINEER DEPT EMRTC/METTOP
REG þ FULL TIME þ STARTING RATE or SALARY RANGE $37,386.00
JOB DUTIES: Support and provide the Materials Engineering aspects of microelectronic component research, development, and testing performed at the Microelectronics Testing and Technology Obsolescence Laboratory at the Energetic Materials Research & testing Center of the New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology. Interpret military and commercial standards for microelectronic components and materials. Develop and perform testing programs. Maintain materials aspects of a semiconductor database. Use research equipment: record, analyze, correlate data, and write reports. Assist in developing proposals, technical reports, and presentations. Attend and represent NMT/EMRTC/METTOP at technical society meeting and trade shows. Other duties as assigned that are commensurate with the education, training, and goals of the employee and the METTOP laboratory.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required in Materials Engineering or a related subject. Three to Five years professional experience working independently or with limited supervision desired. Experience testing and inspection of microelectronic components (semiconductors, microcircuit boards) for defects and failures required. Read, understand, and apply commercial, civil and military specifications required. Must be a US Citizen and eligible to qualify for US Government security clearance at least Secret Level. Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.
