POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
TITLE LABORATORY ASSOCIATE DEPT EMRTC
REG þ FULL TIME þ STARTING RATE or SALARY RANGE $13.21 – $16.38
JOB DUTIES: Schedule and administer laboratory contract/research work for all personal and instrument and maintain instruments (including instrument upgrade, repairs, and maintenance contracts) to ensure efficient operation of laboratories. Generate and process requisitions/purchases for laboratory supplies, instruments, and chemicals including regents, gases, glassware and other common laboratory materials and goods and negotiate costs for these items. Evaluate and report on budget adherence for all grant, contracts and cost-center budgets including the CEMED laser facility. Provides internal reports on payroll, inventory, and contract data and generates reports for external distribution. Manage laboratory personnel, training, scheduling, recommendations for hiring/termination, etc. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school (or GED) level ability in spelling, grammar, basic composition and math. Bachelor’s degree required in Science or Engineering or related field. Fundamental accounting/inventory experience, managerial experience with 10-20 people, purchasing expertise and budgeting experience required. Basic knowledge of computers and laboratory equipment (DSC, FTIR, IC, GC-MS, LC-MS, etc) required as well as the ability to maintain the equipment where most instruments have service contracts; must be willing to increase instrument and chemistry knowledge with classes and/or training. Valid New Mexico Driver's License required. Must be able to obtain a secret clearance and successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen. Apply to: New Mexico Tech, Human Resources 801 Leroy Pl.
