TITLE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN/FSI DEPT MAGDALENA RIDGE OBSERVATORY
REG þ FULL TIME þ
STARTING RATE or SALARY RANGE $15.41-$24.08
JOB DUTIES: Job will primarily consist of construction and operations maintenance on-site at MRO. The FSI Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and expansion of heavy equipment, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and other construction and maintenance related activities. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school (or GED) level ability in spelling, grammar, basic composition and math. Electrical low-voltage system design, installation and codes required. Electrical high-voltage system maintenance and codes required. Data comm. System (copper & fiber) installation, maintenance and codes required. Heavy equipment operations (loader, roller, grader, backhoe, etc.) required. Fluent in spoken English and Technical Written English required. Experience working on projects at 10,500 ft without distress desired. Experience with General Construction practices required. Carpentry, masonry, plumbing, welding and metal fabrication and knowledge of Astronomical Observatory & Research Installations Operations and Construction desired. NM Driver’s License and Commercial Driver’s License required within 6 weeks of hire. EE98 or Electrical journeyman certificate of competence with a commitment to take the examinations for EE98 certification within two months of hire required. Fiber Optic splicing and termination certification within 12 months of hire required. National Safety Council Defensive Driving Course required within 2 weeks of hire.
