Welding School Instructor - Jim L EvittThis course is open to employees of all public and private agencies with road construction or maintenance responsibilities. The class size is limited to ensure that the student receives the best educational experience possible.

Course Objectives:

After completing the Welding course, the student should be able to perform the tasks listed below at a basic level.

Student Objectives:

  1. Welding Safety
  2. Welding equipment maintenance
  3. Metal basics and heat control
  4. Torch cutting
  5. Gas brazing and soldering
  6. Learning welding rod and wire
  7. Basic arc welding
  8. Basic mig welding

Course Schedule:

Welding safety and preventative maintenance, classroom and hands-on welding machine operation, classroom and hands-on training in the welding shop, summary, review and graduation.

Course Information:

The course is two weeks long (64 hrs), and given by in house staff instructors at New Mexico Tech's Technical Training Center in Socorro. The training methods used are classroom instruction and hands-on skill experience, with the bulk of the training in demonstration and practice exercises. Visual presentation, discussion and handout materials generally cover classroom instruction. Cost for this course is $1400.00.
