Motor Grader Training Course

The Motor Grader Training program is designed to educate individuals in the fundamentals of heavy equipment operations. It will provide the background, and insight required for those in the construction industry.

Motor Grader TrainingThis program is open to employees of all public agencies and private entities with road construction or maintenance responsibilities. The class size is limited to ensure that the student receives the best educational experience possible. The student will have the traditional classroom training that will prepare them for the operation of motor graders. We also provide several acres of hands on road practice.

Course Objectives:

After completing this course, the student should be able to operate the equipment safely and perform the tasks listed in Student Objectives.

Student Objectives:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to perform preventive maintenance inspection.

    • Service a motor grader 

    • Start, operate, stop and secure a motor grader. 

  2. Motor Grader TrainingManeuver a motor grader.

  3. Cut and move winrow.

  4. Cut fore slope and back slope.

  5. Blend and spread material on an unpaved road.

  6. Grade an unpaved road.

  7. Perform round bottom ditch construction.

  8. Build a 3-inch crown on an unpaved road.

Course Information:

The class is one week in length and taught by in-house staff instructors at New Mexico Tech's Technical Training Center in Socorro. It is 32 hours of instruction and costs $700.
