
Conference RA Selection
Being a Summer Conference RA is an awesome experience! You will work hands-on with a great group of people dedicated to helping the varied summer conferences that visit our campus. Compensation: Room and board plus a stipend.
Requirements:
Good academic standing.
Cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
Pre-registered for classes for fall 2008. Enrollment in summer classes is permitted.
Working knowledge of Tech Residence Halls.
Must have lived in the Residence Halls for at least one semester.
Live on campus during specified employment dates.
Job Description:
Serve as an information source for summer conference groups by knowing Residential Life and Summer Conference policies, procedures and campus resources.
Required attendance at Conference Services training and weekly staff meeting with the Conference Coordinator.
Responsible for room inspections and inventories prior to each groups check-in and following the groups check-out. May be asked to complete general custodial duties on an as-needed basis.
Responsible for key control of assigned hall, including distribution and collection of room keys from conference attendees.
Responsible for linen supplies, linen inventory, and replacement of linen used for assigned hall. Responsible for distribution and collection of linen for all rooms in all halls. Also responsible for delivery of soiled linen to cleaners and pick up of clean linen.
Assessment of hall damages following each conference check-out. Report all problems with rooms and buildings to the Residential Life Office, including work orders. Responsible for work order completion follow up when necessary.
Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays and have a flexible work schedule. Any additional employment must have the Conference Services Coordinator approval.
Standard of Performance and Expectations:
Abide by all Residential Life and New Mexico Tech policies.
Must maintain confidentiality at all times and in every situation.
Must be dependable, reliable, timely and able to work with minimal supervision.
Must keep good communication between the conference/event participants and the Conference Services Coordinator.
Must demonstrate professional conduct with all coordinators, attendees and event guests of New Mexico Tech.

April 4, 2008: Completed applications are due to the Residential Life Office by 4:00 pm
April 14-18, 2008: Interviews
April 21, 2008: Notification letters sent
April 27, 2008: First Staff Meeting
May 19-20, 2008: Conference Services Training
May 23, 2008: First conference arrives on campus!
