Programs and Services for Students

Group Opportunities for Learning and Development (GOLD) — A free tutoring service for undergraduate courses offered every semester including summer sessions. Peer tutors who have demonstrated mastery of the subjects tutored conduct the small group sessions. The primary focus is on introductory core courses including mathematics, physics, chemistry, electrical engineering and computer science. Many other courses are tutored depending on need and qualified tutor availability. The GOLD program works cooperatively with the Math department to provide tutors for the department help sessions. Tutors must have passed the course they tutor with a B or better and have a faculty recommendation.

Academic Referral Program — An early intervention program designed to identify and help students when they show signs of academic difficulty. The teaching faculty is asked to refer students to the ARC for assistance during the third week of the semester. Students on academic probation are contacted by the ARC during the first week of the semester and asked to come in for academic planning and assistance.

Academic Counseling — Individual and group counseling is offered to help students identify their learning style and develop academic success skills such as time and stress management, study skills, and adaptive choice-making.

Academic Skills Resource Library — Multiple sources available for students to assist them with skill development. The library is available for study groups and homework assistance.
